Fresh & Easy for the Holidays!
I always look forward to visiting Fresh & Easy this time of year
to see what they have in store for the holidays!
This year I was invited to come sample and help prepare a delicious meal!
We started with a savory display of appetizers.
My favorite was the hummus with pesto!
So good, I could have eaten it by the spoonful!
Next we separated into groups and prepared 4 different hearty salads.
They were each different and delicious, and I enjoyed them all!
Chef Cyndi is a master in the kitchen!
She prepared us a plateful of unexpected and delicious delights
paired with Fresh & Easy's yummy ham!
We learned how to make eclairs!
I can't wait to wow my friends with these!
To finish this awesome night we packed up some sweet treats to take home!
My favorites were the spice cookies, mini pies, and peppermint sandwich cookies!
We also took home a big bag of goodies
from Fresh & Easy's wide assortment of tasty holiday specialties!
I can't wait to dig into all this deliciousness!

Discovery Science Center: Indiana Jones & The Science of Gingerbread!
This week we were SO EXCITED to go to Discovery Science Center!!
They have two fabulous events going on that you DO NOT WANT TO MISS!
My son was WAY EXCITED to see this,
but we had no idea HOW COOL it would be!
First of all it's an AUDIOVISUAL TOUR!
Everyone gets a headset and a cool handheld machine!
You punch in CODES, scan for HIDDEN TREASURE, and watch MOVIE CLIPS
while you're looking at the coolest props from the Indiana Jones movie series!
When you're done with that amazing display,
there are PULLEY CHAIRS to test your strength,
TREASURE to dig up, LASERS to shoot,
and a GREEN SCREEN to put yourself in the movie!
SO MUCH FUN!!
We could go back again and again to this exhibit.
There is so much to see and do!
Second is the The Science of Gingerbread!
This exhibit is located all throughout the center.
Amazing gingerbread creations are on display!
You can find everything from carousels, to UPS trucks, to dinosaurs!
All made out of gingerbread!
Upstairs you can decorate a cookie, and eat it of course!
You can also make an edible race car and send it down the racetrack!
On your way out, don't forget to see Santa who will be visiting there until Christmas Eve!
The Science of Gingerbread will be open through January 6th!
Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology will be open through April 21, 2013!
You will want to go again and again to see it all!

Candy Caramel Corn!
My husband found this recipe in our community magazine and it is totally addicting!!
Every time he makes it we have to share so we don't eat it all ourselves in one day!
INGREDIENTS:
5 quarts plain air popped popcorn
1 cup butter
2 cups light brown sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
20 “fun size” Twix candy bars, chopped (or your favorite chocolate bar)
HOW TO MAKE:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Place popcorn in a large bowl and set aside.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda and vanilla extract. Pour caramel in a thin stream over popcorn, stirring to coat. Gently stir until all of the popcorn is covered.
Place popcorn on two large shallow baking sheets and bake in preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, for about an hour. Remove popcorn from oven and let cool completely.
Break popcorn into pieces and mix in chopped Twix candy bars. Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
