Medieval Times: Review & Giveaway!!

This week I got to take my family somewhere I'd always wanted to go!

My son had seen a little preview of the show at a Cub Scout event
and he was pumped to see the knights perform!

My daughter was so excited to see all the horses before and after the show.
They were all lined up in their stables for us to admire!

Once we were seated, the show began!
Our section was cheering for the Black & White Knight!

The knights battled it out to see which one would be victor
and defeat the evil visitor to the kingdom!

The action was very exciting and kept us cheering!

During the show we were well fed!

Sunny Days Sewn Card!

When I was little I always drew the same picture.

Big sun, green grass, fields of rainbows and flowers.

So when I create anything now, it usually has elements of my childhood pictures.
Check my other projects, it's totally true!!

I grabbed two pieces of contrasting papers and some colorful thread.

I appliqued a circle of yellowy sunshine fabric in the corner
and sewed some sunbeams around the edges.

Then I sewed some dark green grass along the bottom.

The flower stems were next in a light green...some short, some long.

Some sweet button flowers and I was done!
I made this for a sweet friend who was having a birthday.
I think it would make a great welcome to the neighborhood,
welcome to the world, or just because I love you card!

Sunny days to you my friends!

Knott's Berry Farm: Timber Mountain Log Ride!

When you think of Knott's Berry Farm, there are classics that come to mind.
Roller coasters, Snoopy, Boysenberry Pie, and the Log Ride!!

In just one week you can experience the newly redesigned Timber Mountain Log Ride!

In 1967, Bud Hurlbut designed the iconic log ride and presented the plans to Walter Knott.
The Timber Mountain Log Ride took nearly a year to construct and cost over 2.5 million dollars.
Housed in a mountain 300 feet long and 75 feet high, the Log Ride’s flume,
which carries the logs, is 2,100 feet long and six feet wide.
The fiberglass logs, weighing 450 pounds apiece, carry four to five passengers,
enabling 1,800 passengers an hour to board the 36 logs for the thrilling 4 minute journey.
The “free float” system of the logs did not employ any mechanical device to regulate passage.
Fluid drive – water current controlled by a pair of 125 horse-power pumps circulating 24,000 gallons of water per minute,
cause the logs to rush through the flume at speeds ranging from 8 to 22 feet per second.
A reservoir of 350,000 gallons of water is required to maintain the flow.

The Calico Log Ride opened on July 11, 1969 with screen legend John Wayne and his son, John Ethan, taking the first ride down the flume.
It continues to be the most popular attraction in the park carrying over 2.7 million guests every year!

The redesdigned ride will be filled with animatronics that will bring the new scenes to life!

The new human and animal figures are so real, I can hardly believe it!

Come check out the new Timber Mountain Log Ride for yourself,
along with all the other new rides opening next weekend for Summer 2013 on the Boardwalk at Knott's Berry Farm!
Opening May 30, 2013!
I will be there, and I can't wait!

To take advantage of all the new offerings and experience all of Knott’s Farm Fresh Fun,

Monterey Bay Aquarium!

Last week my family and I had the opportunity to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium!
We had never been and were excited to see what they had to offer!

One of the first things you see when you enter the aquarium
is the huge display of fish and sharks swimming in the kelp forest.

Feeding time is especially fun when you can gather round and watch the divers dig in their bucket
for different kinds of fishy treats and talk about the sea creatures swimming around them.

There were so many exhibits for us to see!
Lots of big and little aquariums filled with all sorts of interesting creatures!

We loved how hands-on everything was too!
Can you see my son's "tentacles" poking out of this coral?

There was one gigantic tank that had the biggest school of fish I had ever seen!
They were mesmerizing to watch as they swam in perfect synchronization,
parting only to let the occasional shark or turtle swim through.

My favorite exhibit was the jellyfish!
There were so many different kinds to see!
They're amazing!
We had fun waving our arms in front of the human kaleidoscope
and drawing our own jellyfish to set free in the virtual tank!

Can you find the fish so carefully camouflaged??

These creatures are so beautiful to me!

My kids both loved the hands-on area where they could touch all the sea creatures!

You should definitely stop at the cafeteria and taste the renowned clam chowder!
It has bacon in it! Best I've ever eaten!

Thanks Monterey Bay Aquarium for a wonderful visit!
We look forward to seeing you again!

Disney On Ice: Treasure Trove (Review)

This week we got to see Disney On Ice: Treasure Trove!
It was our first time seeing Disney On Ice and we were so excited!!
My daughter told me everyday she wanted to see "Disneyland Ice."

Every act was so wonderful!
The costumes, the energy, the skating, the music!
I was on the edge of my seat cheering!

My children thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go again!

You still have a chance to catch Disney On Ice: Treasure Trove in the Southland!

IRON MAN 3!

IRON MAN 3 OPENS TODAY!!

Marvel's "Iron Man 3" pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

I had the pleasure of seeing it last night at a special screening and it was the best yet!
If you liked the first two, then you'll love this one!
It had me on the edge of my seat trying to remember to breathe!

Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Epic Playdate!

Last weekend we had the awesome opportunity to attend an Epic Playdate hosted by Hyundai!

As soon as I stepped into the new Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, I knew it was the car for me!
It felt so nice and had so many excellent features for my family!
I know we could have many epic adventures in this car!

The Dos Pueblos Ranch in Goleta was a great place for an epic playdate with our friends!

It was so fun to have a day together with the whole family!

We fueled up for our day with a great breakfast!

We got warmed up for our day with the hula hoops!

This playdate was packed with activities!
The kids had a hard time deciding what fun to have first!

The paper rockets were definitely a favorite!
From building them together to launching them as high as the trees,
this was a family activity we all enjoyed!

We worked together as families to make a giant sand art exhibition!
It was awesome to see all the different designs!

The balloon artist was on hand to teach us how to make balloon swords!
My son could have done that all day long!

Right before lunch we had our first epic battle!
The kids were wrapped in tin foil and duct tape and decorated with whipped cream!
The kids thought this was so cool...and tasty!

By this time we were ready to dig into a great BBQ!
No epic adventure is complete without our favorite food!

I loved all the little places that were set up in the shade for a little rest!
I wish every playdate had naptime!

Ice cream sundaes rounded out the best playdate we've ever had!

If you're looking for an epic day, Hyundai can take you there!
