Red, White and Blue Striped Straw Pinwheel Wreath!

It's almost the 4th of July and I can't stop creating in red, white and blue!
I saw the striped straw wreath at Tatertots and Jello last winter and I fell in love!
I had to recreate it for Independence Day!

I am cuckoo for paper pinwheels and had some left over from my Patriotic Pinwheel Flag!
I love them on the striped straws!

And you know I wanted some polka dots in there,
so I wrapped the foam wreath in my favorite red and white polka dot ribbon!

What do you think?
I kind of LOVE IT!!

Happy 4th of July!!

Summertime is fun time for our family!
Pool, beach, water park, endless outdoor on-the-go FUN!!

Any playdate for us includes FRIENDS!

The beach is one of our favorite places to go!
Sandcastles, mesmerizing waves, seashells!
Sunshine on our skin, seagulls, salty breezes!

Today was all about sand crabs!
The kids dug them up and were busy for hours
examining them and trying to find the biggest one!

And of course we are all about the food!
We love to bake up some chocolate chip cookies
to share with our beach friends!

Snuggling in the sunshine feels so nice!
These are memories I want to keep forever!

After all that warm sunshine, a nice, cool, ice cream cone sounds nice!
Chocolate, of course, for the girls!

Here's to more epic summer playdates!

And check out more Hyundai adventures from Mighty Girl!

Monsters University!

This week we got to preview the new Disney Pixar film, Monsters University!
We LOVED it!!
If you loved Monsters, Inc., then you will love this movie too!

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer.  The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning composer Randy Newman  (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”).

I loved how they tied the movie together with characters
we loved from Monsters Inc. plus some fun new monsters!

Monsters University is sure to be another classic from Disney Pixar
that you and your family will want to see again and again.

Monsters University opens next Friday, June 21!
Tickets are on sale now and will be shown in 3D in select theaters!

Please enjoy these fun games and activities from Monsters U!

Patriotic Pinwheel Flag!

I'm in full red, white and blue mode!

This flag has been floating in my imagination for awhile now...

And here she is!
So fun, right??

I started with thick 12x12 scrapbook paper in flag shades of red, white and blue!

Cut each sheet of paper into 4 equal squares.
Then cut 3 1/2 inches from each corner into the center.
Bring every other corner to the center,
then secure with a push pin and silicone earring back.

Soon you'll have a pretty little pile of patriotic pinwheels!

Pull off the backs of the pinwheels and poke the thumb tacks through a canvas,
securing them with the earring back on the canvas back.

And there you have it!

Hope you enjoy!

Happy 4th!
