Go Mama Monday! - Spring Giveaway!!

What a fun weekend we had, and now I'm playing crafty catch-up! Well laundry catch-up too, but who wants to talk about that?!

Anywho, it's that time of year again!
My favorite season...
SPRING!!!
Even here in Paradise, aka Southern California, where it's green all year, everything is even more brilliant in the Spring!!
And so we must celebrate with a banner!!
I've been getting into sewing on paper, and really like it!
The ribbon on top is sewn on!
I got my color inspiration from the Easter clothes I picked out for my kidlets this year. Pink and green! Love it!!
Easter is sooooo late this year!
I couldn't wait and bribed them to pose for me.
And now for the good news!!
You can have this banner in your house to celebrate Spring!!

Foodie Friday - Simple Rainbow Cake

If you're online at all, I'm sure you've seen the rainbow cakes.
Gorgeous color, all stacked up in rainbow color. Sigh...
I love them so much.
I had to bring a cake to a church function and decided I wanted to make it rainbow! I opted however to go with the simpler version since I didn't have that much time to spend on it.
I started with a white cake mix. I love the ones with pudding in the mix! So moist and yummy!!
Be smart and put your butter in a mixing bowl to soften for your frosting. (I ALWAYS forget to do this and end up trying to make frosting with frozen butter, highly ineffective.)
Separate your batter into six bowls and color it to whatever shades suit your fancy! My nesting bowls were perfect for this project because they helped me put the right amount of batter in the bowls for each color, i.e. the most for red, least for violet.
Spoon your batter in rainbow order circles into your round cake pan. It's pretty already!!
Bake according to directions and voila? I was disappointed that the colors faded into each other and were not more vibrant.
Until I sliced off the top and found the color inside! Hooray!
Add some marshmallow creme to your frosting for fluffy white cloud goodness!
Have your little sunshine give it her taste test of approval!
Stack your two round cakes and frost! I so wished I had more colors of sprinkles, but I guess we were going patriotic in March!
This is where the story gets sad.
Grab a tissue. Ok, not really.
I took the cake to the church and turned it over to the party planners. They carried it into the kitchen and dropped it.
It hit the wall and landed on the floor in a broken, colorful mess.
Very sad.
I rescued one piece so I could show you the inside.
Pretty! As people looked at the mess that was my cake, they oohed and aahed over the beauty of it.
One lady did her best to cheer me up and told me the story of her wedding cake that fell over. No cake cutting at her reception!
Now that's a real tear-jerker!

Enjoy fabulous food this weekend!!

Toast of Tuesday!!

Thank you to everyone who linked up last week on our very first Wow Me Wednesday!! It was so fun to watch all your projects pop up on the blog! You are a talented bunch!! Here are some of my favorites.
I'm absolutely in LOVE with this quilt!! It has everything I love: polka dots, pink and quilting! Great job!!
How could you not like a dessert with cream cheese, whipping cream, and a graham cracker crust?!? YUM!! My mouth is watering just looking at them.
I am blown away by what these people went through to bring this table back from the dead. WOW!!!
I think button art is SO adorable, so I'm loving this idea!!

I can't wait for our next linky party tomorrow!!

Go Mama Monday! - Skirt Refashion

I've been so inspired by all the refashioning going on in blogland. So fun!! After I made this skirt for my daughter and brainstormed it into a dress instead, I got to thinking...
When I was at our local consignment store I found this skirt.
It's an XL in girls, but it was so super cute! I thought why not?!?
For the shoulder straps, I measured for my daughter's shoulders and cut two strips of coordinating fabric 11 inches by 4 inches.
I sewed each one right sides together, leaving the bottom open.
I turned them, sewed closed the bottom, and top stitched all the way around the edges.
I put the dress on my daughter and pinned on the straps.
Then I hand stitched the straps on the inside at the base and an inch higher too for added strength and stability.
I decided it would be fun to dress it up a little with a flower!
I cut 2 strips of fabric and sewed down one edge with a long gathering stitch.
Then I pulled the thread and gathered it up tight and sewed the edges closed.
I stitched one on top of the other and then attached the flower to the dress with a big button! Cute!!
Of course, she couldn't have a new dress without matching hair bows. I use these instructions: https://www.theribbonretreat.com/custom/modules/FreeProjects/PDFHowtoMakeKorkerRibbonandBows.pdf
 Even better than I imagined!
Perfect for twirling!!
I am no longer limited by sizes!!
I'll just make it work and make it cute!!
Have fun!!
